What makes DKcat’s products eco-friendly and sustainable?
The materials used to make DKcat’s products are almost completely eco-friendly. The
carpet has recycled content, is recyclable and replacements will soon be available so the
products can have a longer life. The perches are made from bamboo plywood, which is
rapidly renewable, and also formaldehyde free so it doesn’t off-gas toxins. The wood in
the posts is reclaimed, so fewer trees are cut down. Sisal rope is all natural. The wood
stains and finishes are all water based. Non-toxic wood glue is used. All of the
packaging used to ship our products is recyclable.
Is any assembly required?
No, the products all arrive fully assembled and ready to use.
Will you ship internationally?
Currently we only ship to the continentual U.S. and Alaska
Can the carpet be replaced over time?
Yes. I am currently in the process of developing a carpet replacement kit, which
will be available soon via the website.
Can I clean the carpet?
Yes. Vacuum the carpet as you would any carpet. The carpet’s fibers and its backing
are water proof, so it can also be cleaned with warm soapy water. For more severe
soiling, the carpet tile can be removed and literally hosed off if necessary. Remove
the carpet with a pair of plyers or tweezers in a corner, clean, and replace when dry. If
the tape is no longer sticky after several removals, double-stick carpet tape is available
at most home improvement stores.
What kind of wood is used?
Pine and/or birch trim is used on all of DKcat’s products. The posts are made from reclaimed douglas fir lumber.
Can you make a taller cat tower?
I am working on it! DKcat's new Platform T is in development and will be approximately 48-inches tall. Look for it in Spring 2010!
